More Than a Gym in Hamden, CT

One of the many things that makes RTS stand out is the span of core service pillars that allow you to stay in one facility instead of having to be referred out to different clinics and different providers who all have their own agendas. Our expertise and experience allows our trainers/coaches to work directly with both a registered dietitian and physical therapy team to ensure your training is uninterrupted.

RTS was built around the reality that the person walking through the door may eventually need several of those things, and those needs shouldn’t exist in isolation.

Additionally, our gym serves those who have been failed by big box gym models, commodity fitness models, and other generalized fitness group classes. We deliberately set up a process that works with you to get in and stay in the gym. You receive individualized attention so you feel heard and not shoved into a program that isn’t sustainable.

Change does not come easily; RTS makes great effort to not only jump start your fitness journey, but ensure you have a system created that keeps you going for years.

What to Expect from Starting Training at RTS

RTS Adult Training typically begins with more hands-on, one-on-one coaching before progressing into our coach-monitored semi-private training environment.

Every single recommendation, strategy, and adjustment is made for you. We show this by guiding each person through a movement analysis which determines their unique movement signature. A movement signature is collected data that profiles how your joints are able to move, what your current physical state and physical capacity looks like, as well as other important data points that make you, you.

Our certified coaches work with you to develop goal setting, baseline metrics, establish wants/needs/dislikes, and individualized programming moving forward. Your nutrition will also be evaluated, after which you will receive nutrition education and nutrition support.

In the first 5 weeks, you can expect 1 to 2 personal training sessions a week. The idea is to snap you back into fitness in a meaningful, lasting way.

During this time, you will accumulate repetitions using the app, tracking your data, and, best of all, get meaningful introductions that allow you meet people and build relationships.

Progressing from 1:1 Personal Training to Semi-Private Training

Your early RTS experience includes direct coaching so your coach can understand how you move, establish relevant baselines, teach the program and make appropriate adjustments. Once you’re prepared to train more independently, semi-private training allows you to follow your own individualized program in a coach-monitored environment.

Certified trainers monitor the floor in a way that is not intrusive but allows you to get 1:1 coach feedback and support when the moment calls for it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is RTS a gym or a personal training facility?

Ranfone Training Systems is more than a traditional gym. RTS is a proactive health and performance system built around individualized training, coaching, nutrition, and physical therapy. Members are not simply given access to equipment or expected to figure out what to do on their own. Training begins with an intentional onboarding process, individualized programming, and hands-on coaching before progressing into the appropriate training environment.

Does RTS offer personal training in Hamden, CT?

Yes. RTS offers personal training at its facility in Hamden, Connecticut. Adult Training begins with a more hands-on onboarding period that includes one-on-one coaching, a movement screen, baseline testing where appropriate, and guided instruction so you understand your program and feel comfortable in the training environment. From there, most Adult Training members progress into semi-private training while continuing to follow an individualized program.

What is semi-private personal training?

Semi-private training combines individualized programming with access to a coach in a shared training environment. Rather than completing the same workout as everyone else, each RTS member follows the program designed for their own goals, needs, training history, and abilities while a coach monitors the floor, provides feedback, adjusts exercises when necessary, and helps maintain training quality.

Is semi-private training the same as small-group training?

No. At RTS, they are different training models. Semi-private training allows multiple people to train at the same time while each person follows their own individualized program. Small Group Training is primarily used within Athlete Sports Performance and involves a smaller, dedicated group training together with a coach at a 1-to-4 coach-to-athlete ratio.

Does everyone do the same workout in semi-private training?

No. Semi-private training does not mean everyone performs the same workout. Each member follows an individualized program based on their own goals, movement profile, experience, and needs. The shared element is the training environment and access to coaching, not the program itself.

Does RTS offer one-on-one personal training?

Yes. One-on-one coaching is an important part of the Adult Training onboarding process. The first several weeks are intentionally more hands-on so your coach can get to know you, establish relevant baselines, teach you how to perform your program, and help you become comfortable using the RTS training environment. Most members then transition into semi-private training rather than remaining exclusively in one-on-one sessions.

Do I need experience with strength training before joining RTS?

No. RTS works with people across a wide range of training experience. The onboarding process is specifically designed to help new members learn how to perform their program, use the equipment, navigate the RTS app, understand the training environment, and become comfortable with the coaches and other members before greater independence is expected.

Can beginners train at RTS?

Yes. You do not need to already know how to lift, understand gym terminology, or feel comfortable in a training facility before starting. RTS provides a supported introduction to training so you can learn the skills, movements, and routines needed to train with greater confidence over time.

Is RTS only for athletes?

No. RTS works with both adults and athletes. Adult Training is designed for people who want to become stronger, move better, improve their physical capacity, or maintain the ability to do the things that matter to them. Athlete Sports Performance is a separate service designed around the demands of sport and athletic development.

Does RTS train adults over 40, 50, or 60?

Yes. RTS Adult Training is not built around a specific age group. Programming is individualized around the person in front of the coach, including their goals, training experience, physical capabilities, schedule, and relevant limitations. For many adults, the objective is not simply performing better in the gym, but developing and maintaining the strength and physical capacity needed for life outside of it.

Does RTS offer youth athletic performance training?

Yes. RTS Athlete Sports Performance works with developing athletes as well as more experienced competitors. Training is designed around the individual athlete and may address qualities such as strength, power, speed, movement, physical preparation, and the demands of their sport.

Does RTS offer strength and conditioning for high school athletes?

Yes. High school athletes can train through RTS Athlete Sports Performance. Programming is based on the athlete’s needs rather than simply assigning the same workout to every athlete. RTS offers different training formats, including Small Group Training and Semi-Private Training, depending on the athlete and program.

Can my physical therapist and strength coach work in the same facility?

Yes. ProMotion Physical Therapy operates within the RTS training environment. This creates a setting where physical therapy and training can exist much closer together than they often do when rehabilitation and fitness take place at unrelated facilities. Clinical care remains the responsibility of the physical therapy team, while RTS coaches manage the training side of the member’s experience.

Does RTS have nutrition coaching?

Yes. Nutrition is one of RTS’s core service pillars. Nutrition coaching is designed to help people develop practical skills they can apply in everyday life rather than relying on short-term diets or rigid meal plans. Coaching can address areas such as meal structure, food choices, planning, consistency, performance nutrition, and adapting nutrition to real-world situations.

Does RTS have a Registered Dietitian?

Yes. RTS’s nutrition program is led by a Registered Dietitian, which means nutrition guidance is provided by a credentialed nutrition professional rather than being treated as an informal extension of personal training.

What is the difference between RTS and a traditional gym?

A traditional gym primarily sells access to a facility and equipment. RTS is built around coaching, individualized programming, and an intentional system for helping people continue progressing. Members begin with a supported onboarding process, reserve Floor Spots to create a scheduled commitment to training, use individualized programming, and have access to a broader system that includes Adult Training, Athlete Sports Performance, Nutrition, and Physical Therapy.

What is the difference between personal training and semi-private training?

Traditional one-on-one personal training gives one client the coach’s direct attention for the duration of the session. Semi-private training allows several members to train at the same time while each follows an individualized program and receives coaching as needed. At RTS, one-on-one coaching is used heavily during Adult Training onboarding so members can learn their program and build confidence before transitioning into the semi-private environment.

Where is RTS located?

Ranfone Training Systems is located at 109 Sanford Street in Hamden, Connecticut 06514, serving Hamden and the surrounding Greater New Haven area.

What areas does Ranfone Training Systems serve?

RTS is based in Hamden and serves people from throughout Greater New Haven and surrounding New Haven County communities, including New Haven, North Haven, Cheshire, Wallingford, Woodbridge, Bethany, and other nearby areas. Because training is scheduled in advance through Floor Spots, many members build RTS into their weekly routine much like any other recurring appointment.

How do I get started at RTS?

The first step is to connect with the RTS team so they can learn more about what you want to accomplish and determine which service is appropriate for you. Adult Training then begins with a structured onboarding process designed to give you a supported start, establish relevant baselines, introduce you to your program and the RTS app, help you learn the training environment, and build familiarity with the coaches and members around you. The goal is not simply to get you through your first few workouts, but to help you become comfortable enough with the system that training becomes something you can continue consistently.
